Aly Raisman

Alexandra Raisman is a retired American artistic gymnast. She was a member of the 2012 and 2016 Olympic teams. She was a two-time Olympian and captain of the U.S. women’s artistic gymnastics team. In 2008, she became the youngest ever medalist in the sport. Her achievements have earned her the title of the “Final Five”.

Aly began her career as a young child, when she joined a gym with her mother. As a young child, she watched the United States women’s gymnastics team win a gold medal at the 1996 Olympics. She finished high school online and graduated on time with her class at Needham High School. In addition to her gymnastics career, she volunteers for the Special Olympics. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and playing with her Maltese dogs.

She studied at Babson College, Massachusetts, and returned to professional gymnastics in 2014. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she was part of a group called the Magnificent Seven, who won gold in the floor exercise category. After a year of conditioning, Raisman was invited to join the national training camp again, where she won back her spot on the U.S. National Team. After this, she was recognized by the US Olympic Committee, which made her a member of the Magnificent Seven.

As a team captain, Aly Raisman helped the U.S. gymnastics team to victory at the 2011 World Championships. In the 2012 Olympics, Raisman won two gold medals on floor and one bronze. Her performance at the Games was overshadowed by those of Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles, but she was an essential part of the team’s success. The Olympic team’s medal haul was further boosted when she came forward as a victim of sexual abuse by Larry Nassar, who is now serving a sentence.
