Competitive Gymnastics Classes at Cottage Hill Gymnastics Academy

We’re thrilled to announce that our gymnastics program at Cottage Hill is now offering competitive gymnastics classes for the first time! Our gymnastics classes are designed to help students develop balance, body control and strength, through everything from cartwheels to back walkovers. Students learn how to work together and support each other in the sport of gymnastics while learning how to set and reach their own personal goals.

The facility features four uneven bars stations, six balance beams, two vaults and an oversized floor, plus multiple soft-landing pits to mimic the conditions Alabama will encounter in a meet setting. In addition, a rod floor and tumble track offer specialized training. The team suite features a performance fuel center and hot and cold therapy tubs to aid in preparation for competition as well as injury recovery between practice sessions.

Laleh Parvinrouh has been managing her family’s midtown Mobile gymnastics academy for almost a decade. She says her father built the facility, incorporating by hand detailed replicas of Persian architecture into the structure. Her family’s business, Nasser Gymnastics Academy, has molded thousands of young Mobile kids – even three generations of the same families.

In addition to recreational classes, the facility also hosts the nation’s most prestigious gymnastics meets, including NCAA championships and SEC tournaments. The Frances Smith Gymnastics Practice Facility was recently refreshed, adding a new crimson mat color and a revamped team suite. The team suite includes a performance fuel center, hot and cold therapy tubs for preparation and injury recovery as well as a massage room. These new amenities complement Coleman Coliseum’s long-held reputation as one of the country’s best venues for hosting elite competition.
