Gymnastics Moves For Beginners

Bridge

The bridge is one of the most essential skills for young gymnasts to learn. Forward Roll

The forward roll is a fundamental move for every gymnast to know and perfect. It looks like a very graceful somersault when executed properly. Round Off

This maneuver is named after Soviet gymnast Natalie Yurchenko, who first performed it on the world stage at the 2009 World Championships in Moscow. The move has a difficulty score of 6.4 and is considered one of the hardest vaults in women’s artistic gymnastics.

Tsukahara

The tsukahara is a gymnastics maneuver that is named after Japanese gymnast Mitsuo Tsukahara. It’s a vault maneuver that involves a half-turn on the vault and then a backflip off of the vault. In many nations it’s referred to as the moon somersault or a moon salto.

It’s also a back tumbling skill that teaches gymnasts to use their arms and hands as support, which can be important when performing high-difficulty moves. A tsukahara can be performed on all types of bars and can even be adapted to the uneven bars.

Beam

The beam is the most commonly used beam in tumbling. It’s also a very popular apparatus in gymnastics. A beam is an oval-shaped piece of wood, often with a bar at one end. This can be used as a balance beam, floor exercise, or an acrobatics element.
